Terms of Service
Plain-English terms for using TidyText. This is the working agreement between you and us while we're in early access. It's written by the app owner, not a lawyer — before formal launch we'll have a Canadian small-business lawyer give it a proper review.
The short version
- TidyText helps you tidy your own stuff. It's not a lawyer, therapist, or court.
- You own your content. We only use it to give you back the journal you asked for.
- It's free during early access. Paid plans (CAD) might come later — never without notice.
- Don't upload illegal stuff or use TidyText to hurt someone.
- AI gets things wrong sometimes — review before you rely on it.
- You can delete your account and everything in it whenever you want.
1. Who you're agreeing with
"TidyText", "we", "us" means Mommachine, a registered Alberta sole proprietorship operated by Laura Dunn, doing business as TidyText. Contact: tidytext.ca@outlook.com.
2. Early access
TidyText is in active development. Things may change, break, or move. Access requires manual approval — we may take a day or so to let you in, and we may decline or pause accounts that look like bots or that we can't safely support yet.
3. Your account
- You need to be 18 or older.
- One person per account. Don't share sign-in credentials.
- You're responsible for keeping your sign-in secure (use a strong password / 2FA on Google).
4. Acceptable use
Please don't:
- Upload illegal content, or content you don't have the right to upload.
- Use TidyText to harass, dox, stalk, or threaten anyone.
- Try to break the system, scrape it, or access other users' data.
- Use it to generate misleading "evidence" that wasn't yours to begin with.
We can suspend or close accounts that do these things.
5. Your content
You own everything you upload, pull in, or generate. By using TidyText you give us only the licence we need to store it, process it, and show it back to you — and to send it through the AI gateway so we can produce the journal you asked for. That's it. We don't claim ownership and we don't use your content to train models.
6. Connected accounts
When you connect Gmail, Outlook, Drive, or OneDrive, you authorize TidyText to read only the items that match the rules you set per basket (a specific folder, sender, keyword, label, or date range). You can disconnect any time, which wipes the stored tokens. See the Privacy page for the technical details.
7. Pricing
TidyText is free during early access. We may introduce paid plans later — when we do, you'll get notice and a chance to opt in. We'll never auto-charge an existing free account without an explicit opt-in.
Future pricing will be in Canadian dollars (CAD). GST/HST will be added where required. Default payment terms for any future invoices: Net 14.
8. Not legal (or other professional) advice
TidyText helps you organize stuff. It is not a lawyer, paralegal, adjuster, therapist, doctor, or court of law. The journals and exports it produces are organizational tools, not legal documents, not medical records, and not professional advice. For anything that actually matters legally or medically, talk to a real licensed professional.
9. AI output
We use AI to OCR, transcribe, extract dates and names, and summarize. AI gets things wrong — sometimes confidently. Review dates, names, and summaries before you rely on them or share them with anyone official. You're in charge of accepting or editing any AI-generated content.
10. Availability
We aim for good uptime but make no guarantees during early access. Planned maintenance and unplanned downtime will happen. There is no SLA.
11. Termination
You can delete your account anytime, which removes your content (see Privacy for what stays). We can suspend or close accounts that violate these terms, with reasonable notice — except in clear safety, abuse, or legal situations where we may act immediately.
12. Warranty disclaimer
TidyText is provided "as is" during early access, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the maximum extent permitted by law.
13. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Alberta and Canadian law, TidyText, Mommachine, and Laura Dunn are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenues, or data. Our total liability for any claim arising out of or related to TidyText is capped at the greater of: (a) the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) CAD $50 while you're on a free plan.
14. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada applicable there. If we have a disagreement, please email tidytext.ca@outlook.com first — most things sort out with a conversation. Anything we can't sort out goes to the courts of Alberta.
15. Changes
We'll post any updates here with a new "last updated" date. Material changes get a heads-up email. If you keep using TidyText after a change, that means you're OK with the updated terms.
